Biography
Dr. Maharaj Kishan Bhan (1947–2020) was a world-renowned pediatrician and clinical scientist who spearheaded the development of India's first indigenous rotavirus vaccine, ROTAVAC. As Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), he significantly transformed the Indian biotech ecosystem, establishing institutions like BIRAC to foster industry-academia collaboration. He conducted extensive research at AIIMS focusing on diarrheal diseases and child nutrition.
