Biography
Denis Mukwege is a Congolese gynecological surgeon who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for his efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. He founded the Panzi Hospital in Bukavu in 1999 and has treated over 50,000 survivors of sexual violence, becoming a global advocate for conflict-related sexual violence survivors.
