METHODOLOGY · MDR SCORE v2

How a mark is earned, and lost.

Every tier comes from a score of 0 to 100, built from four weighted pillars and a core of citations, inventions and honours. Every input comes from a named source, and anyone can challenge it.

№ 01 · THE FOUR PILLARS

The MDR Score

Clinical Mastery

30%
The scale and length of documented clinical work.
  • Documented procedure volume (60%)
  • Years in practice (40%)
Sources: Published figures, institutional records

Intellectual Legacy

30%
What the physician has added to medical knowledge.
  • h-index (40%)
  • Citations (30%)
  • Named techniques and inventions (30%)
Sources: OpenAlex, PubMed, CrossRef

Training & Mentorship

20%
Formal training today; traced trainee lineage as it is verified.
  • Board certifications and fellowships
  • Lineage is shown on profiles but not yet scored
Sources: Education and training records

Humanitarian Impact

20%
Documented reach beyond the physician's own practice.
  • Lives-impacted figures from published sources
  • Global-health and crisis work
Sources: Published reports, NGO records
HOW THE NUMBER IS BUILTMDR Score = ½ × pillar average + ½ × core score
Citations, weighted by journal impact35%
Named techniques and inventions30%
Honours and prizes20%
Years in practice15%
Each input is scaled from 0 to 100 against a ceiling (for example an h-index of 100 or 50 years in practice), so no single number can dominate. A paper in a journal with an impact factor of 50 or more counts up to five times as much as one in an unranked journal.
№ 02 · ADJUSTMENTS

What moves a score after it's calculated

  1. ARetractionA retracted paper sets the score to zero and puts the profile under review.
  2. BHonours floorHolders of a landmark prize (Nobel, Lasker, Gairdner, Wolf…) or a national honour (Padma awards, Presidential Medal of Freedom, knighthood…) are never placed below Elite.
  3. CLegacy decayFor historical physicians, the score fades by 0.5% a year from ten years after death, to no less than half, unless their technique is still the standard of care.
  4. DPioneer and leadershipSmall fixed bonuses for documented pioneering work and for leading a department, society or institution.
№ 03 · STATURE TIERS

Three tiers of stature

Of 1,147 physicians on the register, 284 are listed without a tier: their sourced record doesn't yet reach a score of 50.
Titan · Tier ISCORE ≥ 90 · 275 PHYSICIANSChanged how medicine is practised worldwide.
Elite · Tier IISCORE ≥ 70 · 416 PHYSICIANSField-defining work within a specialty.
Master · Tier IIISCORE ≥ 50 · 172 PHYSICIANSSustained, documented excellence in practice.

Tiers are being withdrawn from the profiles of doctors registered in India, where the NMC restricts comparative claims. See the Evidence Standard.

№ 04 · THE ETHICS MARK

A separate mark for how a doctor practises

Stature and ethics are scored independently. A Titan can hold no ethics mark, and a rural GP can hold the highest.

Patient transparency35% · 50%
Peer review & compliance40% · 20%
Community & pro-bono work25% · 30%

Four gates fail an audit outright: an inactive board certification, a licence that isn't clean, or undisclosed fees or conflicts of interest. Levels are Advocate (60+), Guardian (75+) and Legend (90+). Guardian and Legend audits carry a fee that pays for the audit itself; paying never guarantees a pass. See ethical doctors.

№ 05 · EDITORIAL RULES

What we promise

Found something wrong? Suggest a correction.

  1. 1Every claim should be sourcedPapers are matched by DOI against PubMed and CrossRef. A fact we can't source is flagged, then fixed or removed.
  2. 2Summaries come from the recordProfile summaries are generated from the sourced record, not written freehand. Machine-drafted text is being labelled on every profile until an editor has reviewed it.
  3. 3Every mark is revocableScores and tiers are recalculated each time a profile's data is synced. Ethics marks decay by 15% for each missed quarterly audit.
  4. 4Corrections are reviewedAnyone can suggest a correction. An editor checks it against its source before it goes live, and every change is logged.
  5. 5No paid placementClaiming a record never changes its score. Physicians can correct facts, not buy rank.
