Latest update

May 2026

A four-country Lancet evaluation reported that RTS,S/AS01E averted about one in eight deaths among eligible children in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi over four years, cutting all-cause child mortality by 13.2 per cent and severe malaria by 21.6 per cent. Fourth-dose coverage of just 39.9 per cent highlighted a booster-completion gap as malaria vaccines reached routine schedules in 25 sub-Saharan African countries.
